Abass’s story

Education can change what comes next.

My name is Abass Jammeh. I am 17, the oldest of four children, and I live in Gambia, Africa, with my siblings—Marima, Buba, and Kaddy—and my grandfather.

After my mother died about two years ago, I had to leave school because my family no longer had the support to pay my school fees. I want to go back and complete my education so I can find work and build a better life for my family.

I also want my siblings to have the chance to stay in school. Marima is 15, Buba is 12, and Kaddy is 9. All four of us want to be in school, so we are asking for help with the most urgent education costs first. If we raise more, we can help the family with school fees, uniforms, books, and supplies, while also helping with food and essential household needs.

Thank you for caring about our future.

A note from the organizer

I met Abass online, and I wanted to help make his next step possible.

I have stayed in contact with Abass and have already sent direct support to help his family with food and a sibling’s medical treatment. I’m organizing this personal fundraiser so more people can help Abass and his three siblings work toward a more stable future.

This is a personal fundraiser, not a registered charity. Donations will be received by Dennis through GoFundMe and sent to Abass and his family in Gambia, Africa. Funds will be sent every two weeks as donations come in, and updates will be shared here, on GoFundMe, and later through WhatsApp. Dennis will continue supporting the family as he is able.
